Glorious Goodwood

In 1802 the 3rd Duke of Richmond introduced horse racing on the Goodwood Estate grounds, near Chichester, for the amusement of local army officers. Race week was so popular it was soon called ‘Glorious Goodwood’. Nowadays the racing is officially known as Qatar Goodwood Festival – a sporting and social highlight of the flat-racing calendar.

Where is it?


There is a regular train service from London Victoria to Chichester (1hour 40 minutes). From Chichester station, the racecourse is a 30 minute journey on the number 55 bus.
