The North of England is home to some of the UK’s most stunning countryside – with The Yorkshire Dales, The Lake District National Park and Northumberland all within this breath-taking area. Beyond the countryside, the vibrant cities of Northern England are where you’ll find some of the country’s most famous football clubs, and once known for their industrial heritage, these are now renowned for their culture, shopping and nightlife.

Day 1

Friday, May 10, 2019 - Harrogate to Kendal

Departing Harrogate after ExploreGB, make the journey to Kendal, where the educational itinerary begins. Arrive in Kendal and check into the Castle Green Hotel for the night, before heading out for dinner at the Greenhouse.

Saturday, May 11, 2019 - Kendal to Windermere

Take to the water with National Steam Yacht Gondola and enjoy a unique, steam propelled cruising experience on Coniston Water.

In the afternoon, enjoy afternoon tea at Muncaster Castle before boarding the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway, and marvel at the picture perfect Lake District Views as you make your way to Windermere – one of the Lake Districts most famous towns.

Sunday, May 12, 2019 - Windermere to Matlock

After breakfast, you will stop off at Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. This historic and atmospheric shop was established by Sarah Nelson in 1854 and produces a unique confectionery product called ‘Grasmere Gingerbread®’. This is only the place in the world where it is made and sold, baked fresh every day to a secret recipe.

After that, it’s onto Sutton Gamekeeper for lunch, before travelling to Forest Gin for a foraging experience, where you will gather wild botanicals (such as bilberry, raspberry, blackberry, gorse flower, pine and moss) to flavour your own bespoke gin!

Day 4

Monday, May 13, 2019 - Malton, Bakewell and Manchester

On the final day of the educational, have breakfast and check out of the hotel before transferring to Haddon Hall House. Set in the heart of the Peak Distict National Park, this house and gardens have played to host to three versions of Jane Eyre, along with a host of other period dramas!

After the tour of the house and gardens, enjoy a spot of lunch at Haddon Hall before getting on the coach to the Manchester Airport to begin the journey home.
