2020 marks the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower from Plymouth UK to Plymouth Massachusetts.

Rademon Estate Distillery

Set in 500 acres, Rademon Estate in the heart of County Down is one of the oldest historic estates in Ireland and 30 minutes from Belfast City Center.   Since 2014, they have been distilling Shortcross Gin on the estate.

Britain’s first Hard Rock Hotel

The 900-bedroom Marble Arch site is set to re-open in summer 2018 as the Hard Rock Hotel, complete with a lobby area hosting live music, as well as a Hard Rock Café, speakeasy bar, spa and ‘rock shop’ selling iconic merchandise.

Opening of The Peninsula, London

The luxury global chain, Peninsula, has announced plans to open its first ever UK property in London. Located in Belgravia, steps away from Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, the new hotel will be in a prime location to explore the capital’s cultural highlights.

250th anniversary of the Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts

At one time this celebrated annual show was known simply as ‘The Exhibition’, where the likes of Gainsborough and Reynolds, Turner and Constable sharpened their skills against each other. Today, the galleries at Burlington House continue to provide an unrivalled setting for artists to display and sell their artworks.

Blackpool Heritage Museum

Housed inside the Pavilion Theatre at the Winter Gardens, the £21 million museum will use film, photos, music and artefacts to show how Blackpool became one of the world’s largest tourist resorts.


New roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has confirmed plans to build a brand new £16.25 million roller coaster. The two minute 30 seconds, 1.14km coaster will be the UK’s first ever ‘double-launch’ ride, meaning it gets two powerful acceleration boosts during the ride.

Zetter to open hotel in Manchester

Luxury hotel group Zetter has announced plans to open its first hotel outside of London, and the fourth hotel in its collection. The new addition to The Zetter Group portfolio will be in a converted Grade-II listed fire station in London Road, Manchester.

New Brunel museum

A new museum dedicated to the life and achievements of iconic engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel will be part of a major redevelopment of Bristol’s Floating Harbour area.

250th anniversary of the modern circus, Staffordshire

2018 marks the 250th anniversary of the invention of the modern circus ring by Philip Astley, born in Newcastle-under-Lyme. In 1768, Astley, himself an equestrian performer, brought together clowns, jugglers, tightrope walkers and musicians in one place for the first time, to form the first modern circus.

New Eden Project hotel planned, Cornwall

The Eden Project will get a new £8.5million addition to the eco-friendly site next year: a 109-bedroom hotel, located near the Eden’s Plum car park. The structure will be designed to blend into the countryside whilst still striking an unconventional appearance and offering high levels of accessibility, energy efficiency and sustainability.

Belmond Cadogan, Knightsbridge, London

The luxury hotel group Belmond, is backing the £28 million investment project in The Cadogan, the prestigious hotel on Sloane Street. Built in 1887 in the Queen Anne style, The Cadogan was the location of Oscar Wilde's infamous arrest.

Bodmin Jail to become a hotel, Cornwall

Architects have devised proposals to redevelop Bodmin Jail. The refurbishment would include the two wings of the derelict cell blocks where the new hotel would be housed, complete with glazed roof lights that would run the length of both wings creating a centralised atrium.
