Great Western Railway launch their ``Famous Five`` campaign and new Intercity Express Trains

With over 270 destinations to choose from, the Great Western Railway is the gateway to adventure – from an escape to the country, a relaxing trip to the seaside, or exploring one of the many cities that GWR serves.

The Great Western Railway (GWR) travels from London Paddington, westwards to Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, Salisbury, Oxford, Portsmouth, Moreton-in-Marsh (Cotswolds), St Ives and Cardiff, amongst other destinations. GWR’s new marketing campaign for the Intercity Express Train follows Enid Blyton’s classic children’s favourites, The Famous Five, as they embark on their very latest adventure that takes them through the stunning backdrop of the South West and Wales.

These new Intercity Express Trains mark the next generation of intercity rail travel, with up to 24% more seats per train; increased legroom, better WiFi and number of tables; and, from 2019 the journeys will also be quicker.

On-board buffets are available on most GWR high speed trains and offer a selection of drinks, snacks and sandwiches made with locally sourced ingredients – and some trains offer the GWR Pullman Dining Experience.

GWR has also teamed up with a selection of airline operators to allow through tickets to be booked for your customer’s entire air and train journey  to/from one of 20 GWR stations. It is also possible to book Heathrow Express tickets as part of the same booking. Airlines included are British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Avianca, Cathay Pacific, Royal Brunei, Oman Air and JAL. More information and a map showing routes where this is possible, can be downloaded here.

Passengers must check-in online on up to 72 hours before departure to print their GWR + Heathrow express tickets. Normal airline check-in procedure applies.
