Virgin’s new fleet of trains – the Virgin Azuma – will revolutionise travel when it arrives on the East Coast Mainline from 2018. Running from London Kings Cross, to stations including York, Leeds, Lincoln, Durham, Newcastle and Edinburgh, travel along the East Coast Mainline will become quicker and easier as this new fleet is introduced.
Providing an additional 12,200 seats, these 65 new trains will increase Virgin Trains’ capacity and reduce travel times, reaching 125mph in around 4 minutes 40 seconds, compared with around 5 minutes 40 seconds for their current electric-powered trains. London to Edinburgh will take just 4 hours, and London to Leeds will take only 2 hours. Virgin will also be adding additional destinations including Middlesborough and Huddersfield.
Azuma will deliver all the comfort and style that Virgin is famous for: ergonomically designed seats throughout; some of the best leg room you’ll find on UK trains; free and faster Wi-Fi; power sockets for every seat; superior onboard catering in First and Standard Class, including the Virgin Trains’ Foodbar; and a distinctive Virgin look and feel, inside and out.
