While for now, we must continue to stay home and enjoy our travelling online, VisitBritain is working on a strong and resilient return while keeping Britain front of mind for its Scandinavian travellers.

Tourism has been one of the first and hardest hit economic sectors globally, yet Britain’s tourism industry stands united in order to curb the Covid-19 outbreak. As an industry worth £127 billion annually and supporting 200,000 small-to-medium sized businesses across the country, tourism plays a vital role in Britain’s recovery.

As the international response to the Covid-19 pandemic continues, public health and safety continues to be the UK Government’s priority. With global travel at a standstill, VisitBritain had planned for the likelihood that we would not see international visitors in any great numbers until later this year.  While we build the road to recovery, we are bringing Britain to international audiences through our online channels including @lovegreatbritain_se, @lovegreatbritain_no, @lovegreatbritain_dk and visitbritain.se, visitbritain.no, visitbritain.dk sharing the best of our culture and virtual visitor attractions from film and TV to music, heritage, literature, gardens and British food and drink.

Our priority is to insure that tourism rebounds to once again become one of the most successful sectors of the UK economy. We continue to work closely with the tourism industry and the UK Government.  We will also be working with the international travel trade so that they are ready to sell Britain again as we enter recovery. We look forward to welcoming you and your clients back to our shores as soon as we can!

VisitBritain is the national tourist board for Great Britain with the remit to promote Britain to potential visitors in a modern and appealing way.

Our travel trade strategy in Nordics is to work with key intermediaries to generate incremental visitors across the nations (England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland) and regions of Britain. In addition, we work alongside the UK tourism industry and local intermediaries, to identify opportunities for developing and offering attractive tourism products for the Nordic markets.

To achieve this, VisitBritain will:

  • Work with industry partners to leverage reach and value
  • Bring relevant new product and experiences to market
  • Ensure the most relevant destination content is available
