North America

While for now, we must continue to stay home and enjoy our travelling online, VisitBritain is working on a strong and resilient return while keeping Britain front of mind for its North American travellers.

Tourism has been one of the first and hardest hit economic sectors globally, yet Britain’s tourism industry stands united in order to curb the Covid-19 outbreak. As an industry worth £127 billion annually and supporting 200,000 small-to-medium sized businesses across the country, tourism plays a vital role in Britain’s recovery.

NEW COVID-19 WEBINAR SERIES: We’re delighted to share the first in a series of live B2B webinars. The series focuses on the impact of Covid-19 and ways the UK Tourism Industry and VisitBritain are working towards a strong recovery. Click below to watch on-demand. We hope you find it informative. As the international response to the Covid-19 pandemic continues, public health and safety continues to be the UK Government’s priority. With global travel at a standstill, VisitBritain had planned for the likelihood that we would not see international visitors in any great numbers until later this year.  While we build the road to recovery, we are bringing Britain to international audiences through our online channels including @lovegreatbritain and visitbritain.com, sharing the best of our culture and virtual visitor attractions from film and TV to music, heritage, literature, gardens and British food and drink.

Our priority is to insure that tourism rebounds to once again become one of the most successful sectors of the UK economy. We continue to work closely with the tourism industry and the UK Government.  We will also be working with the international travel trade so that they are ready to sell Britain again as we enter recovery. Click below to watch an update on VisitBritain’s recovery efforts presented by Carl Walsh, Travel Trade Director, North America.

We look forward to welcoming you and your clients back to our shores as soon as we can.

The North America B2B approach supports the overall mission of VisitBritain by promoting Great Britain as the top tourist destination for American and Canadian travellers.

Our travel trade strategy is to work with key local intermediaries (tour operators and travel agent consortia) as well as the UK tourism industry in order to generate incremental visits as well as increase visitor value and volume throughout London, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Our B2B approach synergizes with the US marketing and PR strategy.

Our product development strategy is led by our Commercial division and has focused on the Discover England Fund, Food & Drink, Rail and Gateways. To learn more about the Discover England projects, click here and feel free to reach out to Tara Didi, our DEF expert based in New York.
