  • Additional Information
    Additional Information:

Simpsons Wine Estate now has 30 hectares of vineyard, planted with the grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The vineyards occupy glorious positions on the sunny, sheltered slopes of the North Downs, protected from the English climate by ancient woodland and anchored in the iconic, free-draining, chalky soils so highly revered in the world of sparkling wine.

In 2016 a state-of-the-art winery was created in Barham in preparation for their first harvest and a modern tasting room was completed during 2017, complete with a helter skelter slide. The first sparkling wines from the 2016 harvest were released in 2018 and an exciting new range of still wines from the 2018 harvest will be released in 2019.

Bi-monthly vineyard tour and tastings are run from June to September and self-guided tours will be introduced this year and be available every Friday afternoon from June to August.

Vineyard tours begin with a walking tour of the Roman Road vineyard site, situated in the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to learn about how the vines are established and farmed. This is followed by a visit to the state-of-the-art winery, where the winemaking process is explained. The tour culminates in a very special tasting of wines from Simpsons' Wine Estate in the comfort of the elegant Glass House Tasting Room and a trip down the 'Fruit Chute’ winery helter-skelter.
